# FAQs&#x20;

### Are Rates Fixed or Variable?

Both interest and savings rates are configurable parameters via governance, and both are variable throughout the course of a CDP or staked position's lifetime. Changes do not apply retroactively however, only after they are effected on-chain.

### Why are Only Some Wallets "Officially Supported"?

These wallets (Lace, Eternl, Tokeo) have been tested most thoroughly, and will most likely provide the smoothest user experience on the platform. If you have another wallet you prefer, it will appear as an option on the wallet connection widget.

### What does this "Redundant Collateral" Warning Mean?

<figure><img src="/files/XtOL0yLVp3xkivv6PHYz" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In addition to the colllateral weight parameters which influence their borrowing powers, each CNT has a **"Maximum Proportion"** parameter which indicates the maximum percentage of the **debt** that can be collateralised by that asset (see [Synthetic Parameters](/how-to-use-butane/butane-basics/synthetic-parameters.md)). Values deposited over the maximum amount (which can be roughly determined by multiplying $$\text{MP} \cdot \text{W}$$ by the current debt value in USD, where $$\text{MP}$$ and $$\text{W}$$ are the max proportion and weight parameters, respectively) aren't included in health factor calculations, however users can still deposit excess collateral if desired. The "rebalance" button will set the collateral amounts to be the current max values based on this calculation.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.butane.dev/how-to-use-butane/faqs.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
